We are so close to recital weekend - please see below for some final updates, reminders and information. Spring Recital is a huge weekend with lots of moving pieces and lots of information - please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions.
TICKET PICK UP: Tickets are now available in the lobby for pick up from Monday, May 10th-Thursday, May 13th from 3:00-7:00pm. Envelopes will be clearly labeled with the dancer’s name and have the wristbands inside. Any envelopes that are not picked up during this time will be available at the ticket table on the day of the event. Tickets will be available to purchase online until Friday evening at 6:00 pm. After this time, tickets can only be purchased on Sunday. Please note that on the day of the show, wrist bands will be $20 for one show, $30 for two shows and $40 for all shows. Any wristbands not picked up by Thursday, May 13th will be available for pick up at the ticket table on recital day.
DRESS REHEARSAL: Please read our policies and procedures above for the full dress rehearsal process. See below for some highlights: Each routine will have a designated check-in time. Dancers will need to arrive completely ready in their first costume, and if they are in multiple dances please be sure to have all other costumes in clearly labeled garment bags. When you arrive at the entrance, JPDC staff will direct you to check-in and find the dancer's dressing room. Dancers will be checked in and taken backstage. Dancers will receive recital T-shirts on the day of dress rehearsal. Parents will stay out in the lobby/dressing room(s) and designated waiting areas while the dancers are practicing on stage. Parents will not be allowed in the auditorium to watch the dress rehearsal. If your dancer is in multiple dances, they will exit the auditorium and head back to their dressing room, so you’re able to help them change and check your dancer back in for their next routine with JPDC Staff. If your dancer is in the ballet production, on Saturday they are only STAGING at Shawnee Mission West. This means dancers need to wear a clean low bun, their class leotard or black leotard, tights, and ballet flats. They will NOT be in costume for the ballet staging rehearsal at Shawnee Mission West on May 15th.
RECITAL LINE UP: Above is our final lineup for our 3 Spring Shows and Ballet Production of “Phantom of the Opera”. Dancers will need to check in 20 minutes before their show time, audience members will not be able to enter the building until 10 minutes before showtime. Please see the attached document reviewing our policies and procedures for the weekend including checking in dancers, dress rehearsal, safety, etc. Please note - there will be absolutely no photography or videotaping during the show. If you would like to get an HD video of the performances, make sure to turn in the form above to the office.
FINALE: There is a final routine at the end of each spring recital that will feature all the dancers on stage in a routine they have learned in class. At the end of the finale, there will be a short recognition and awards ceremony. After the awards, dancers will be checked out back to families from where they checked in - please be patient in this process so we can ensure the safety of our dancers.
We can’t wait to celebrate your dancers’ successes this year through our annual Spring Recital! The website has all the information in one place, if you’re not able to find the answer to your question there, please reach out to the office!
